![]() The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will be a compass for aligning countries’ plans with their global commitments. ![]() Implementation and success will rely on countries’ own sustainable development policies, plans and programmes, and will be led by countries.The Addis Ababa Action Agenda that came out of the Third International Conference on Financing for Development provided concrete policies and actions to support the implementation of the new agenda.To this end, there must be promotion of sustainable, inclusive and equitable economic growth, creating greater opportunities for all, reducing inequalities, raising basic standards of living, fostering equitable social development and inclusion, and promoting integrated and sustainable management of natural resources and ecosystems. Eradicating poverty in all its forms and dimensions is an indispensable requirement for sustainable development.These elements are interconnected and all are crucial for the well-being of individuals and societies. For sustainable development to be achieved, it is crucial to harmonize three core elements: economic growth, social inclusion and environmental protection.Sustainable development calls for concerted efforts towards building an inclusive, sustainable and resilient future for people and planet.Sustainable development has been defined as development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.But much greater leadership and rapid, unprecedented changes are needed to align these levers of change with sustainable development objectives. ![]() And the political, technological and financial solutions are within reach. But inequalities and climate change are threatening to undo the gains. Investment in inclusive and sustainable economies can unleash significant opportunities for shared prosperity. More people have access to better healthcare, decent work, and education than ever before. More people around the world are living better lives compared to just a decade ago. Air uses black only but instead of just the paper white I chose a subtle beige for a nicer duotone.Numerous civil society leaders and organizations have also called for a “super year of activism” to accelerate progress on the Sustainable Development Goals, urging world leaders to redouble efforts to reach the people furthest behind, support local action and innovation, strengthen data systems and institutions, rebalance the relationship between people and nature, and unlock more financing for sustainable development.Īt the core of the 2020-2030 decade is the need for action to tackle growing poverty, empower women and girls, and address the climate emergency. Each year is using black plus one other vibrant process colour. A small sticker around the open long aide kept the poster closed while in transit.įor design reasons and also to further reduce production costs I chose to use the 4 process colours (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) over the four years. This perfectly fit within German Post standard mail sizes and allowed to be posted at the fixed, standard rate. When folded down in half several times it becomes DIN lang (DLE). The chosen format is a slender half DIN A 1 lenghtwise, which offers a large looking poster at half the cost of DIN A1. ![]() I was commissioned to come up with a concept of posters for each year of the 4-year cycle which was themed around the four elements Water, Fire, Earth and Air, and which would be mailed to all participating artists.ĭue to the nature of the exhibition I felt the posters had to fulfill similar criteria as the submitted work, and become pieces of mail, postable without being enveloped by extra packaging before they were sent around the globe. The pieces of mail themselves are the artworks, they are mail-art. Artists from all over the globe were invited to create works of art that will be put through the postal system without further packaging to arrive at the exhibition. Over four consecutive years a gallery in Germany organised an international mail art exhibition each year. ![]()
